basis
for
being

نرگس

You are invited to a choreographic exploration of the self through the recreation of a house party in 1991, Tehran. The child, the degenerate as well as the Persian dancer are here to take you through several states that together shape a basis for being.

Through a labor of self-realization, your host traverses through moving images of a past that is no longer personal or present. Are you the guest that chooses merely to observe, or the one that potentially participates in the dance?

In the Persian language, Narges is a proper female name, an allusion to the eye/s of the beloved, as well as the word for the flower Narcissus. Taking the self as a muse in this somatic tale, the mirror is embodied by the coming together of multiple layers of image, physicality as well as you.
